چکیده
Abstract Background The association between autism spectrum disorder and hydrocephalus is not well understood, despite demonstrated links cerebrospinal fluid abnormalities. Based on the hypothesis that may, at least in some cases, be two manifestations of a shared congenital brain pathology, we investigated potential large Danish population-based cohort. Methods Patients controls were obtained from Lundbeck Foundation Initiative for Integrative Psychiatric Research iPSYCH2012 case-cohort, which includes all patients with selected psychiatric disorders born Denmark 1981–2005 along randomly population (end follow-up, December 31, 2016). associations individual estimated using binary logistic regression adjustment age sex. Results cohort consisted 86,571 individuals, 14,654 diagnosed disorder, 28,606 controls, remaining other disorders. We identified 201 cases; 68 among 40 (OR 3.77, 95% CI 2.48–5.78), corresponds to an absolute risk 0.46 % (i.e. approximately one 217 children had co-occurring hydrocephalus). disorder-hydrocephalus was significant over entire subgroup disorder. Conclusions Given considerable suggest should evaluated routine basis as timely neurosurgical intervention important. Likewise, attention must paid traits hydrocephalus. results this study call future investigations aetiology including role abnormal CSF dynamics pathogenesis

Evidence of reproductive stoppage in families with autism spectrum disorder: a large, population-based cohort study.
IMPORTANCE Few studies have examined the curtailment of reproduction (ie, stoppage) after the diagnosis of a child with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). OBJECTIVE To examine stoppage in a large, population-based cohort of families in which a child has received a diagnosis of ASD. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS Individuals with ASD born from January 1, 1990, through December 31, 2003, were...
متن کاملThe bidirectional association between sleep problems and autism spectrum disorder: a population-based cohort study
Background Sleep difficulties are prevalent in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The temporal nature of the association between sleep problems and ASD is unclear because longitudinal studies are lacking. Our aim is to clarify whether sleep problems precede and worsen autistic traits and ASD or occur as a consequence of the disorder. Methods Repeated sleep measures were available a...

Design, Setting, and Participants: Two populationbased disease registers, the Danish Hospital Discharge Register and the Danish Multiple Sclerosis Register were used to identify patients with T1D, defined as patients in whom diabetes was diagnosed before age 20 years (N=6078), and patients with MS (N=11 862). Firstdegree relatives (N=14 771) of patients with MS were identified from family infor...
متن کاملMigration and autism spectrum disorder: population-based study.
BACKGROUND Migration has been implicated as a risk factor for autism, but evidence is limited and inconsistent. AIMS To investigate the relationship between parental migration status and risk of autism spectrum disorder, taking into consideration the importance of region of origin, timing of migration and possible discrepancies in associations between autism subtypes. METHOD Record-linkage ...
متن کاملAutism Spectrum Disorder and Co-occurring Substance Use Disorder – A Systematic Review
OBJECTIVE Patients with co-occurring autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and substance use disorder (SUD) require special attention from clinical services. Screening for this co-occurrence is not generally an integral part of routine clinical assessments, and failure to identify and understand this group of patients may contribute to a worsening of their symptoms and/or an increase in drug abuse. T...
